      <title>THE APPLICATION OF MAN-MACHINE MODELS IN THE ANALYSIS OF SHIP CONTROL</title>

      <description><![CDATA[The man-machine (ship) model, developed by MARIN, deals with the various aspects of human information processing like perception, capacity limited processing of perceived information, attention, decision making, response selection and response execution.  The controlled process (ship and external disturbances) is mathematically represented by linearised differential equations.  The output of the computer program consists of statistical information of state variables (position, heading, etc.), indices of the (optimal) allocation of attention and workload measures.  The model can be used to analyse the effects of variations in system parameters (ship dynamics, external disturbances) and visual cues on the performance of the man-machine system.]]></description>
