      <description><![CDATA[Lucobit 1210 is a plastic developed by BASF from the polyolefine group, and is used as an admixture to bituminous binders to increase the durability of bituminous surfacings by decreasing abrasion and promoting stability. Adhesion between binder and aggregate is markedly improved, as is compressive and bending tensile strength, and abrasion by steel studded tires is reduced by about 35 percent. /TRRL/]]></description>

      <title>THE MODIFICATION OF BITUMENS FOR ROAD CONSTRUCTION WITH LOCOBIT KR 1210 /IN GERMAN/</title>

      <description><![CDATA[LUCOBIT IS A PLASTIC RAW MATERIAL MADE BY BASF, LUDWIGSHAFEN, AND IS SUPPLIED AS A BLACK POWDERED AGGREGATE. TEST RESULTS HAVE SHOWN THAT CONTROLLED ADMIXTURES OF LUCOBIT TO STANDARD BITUMENS SIGNIFICANTLY IMPROVE THE BINDER ITSELF AND THE ROAD CONSTRUCTION MIXTURES MADE WITH IT - GUSSASPHALT, MASTIC ASPHALT AND FINE ASPHALTIC CONCRETE. THE RESULTS ALSO SHOWED A SUSTAINED INCREASE IN THE MARSHALL STABILITIES AND BENDING TENSILE STRENGTHS OF FINE ASPHALTIC CONCRETE WHEN APPROXIMATELY 7.5 - 10% OF LUCOBIT WAS ADDED TO BITUMEN B 200. /FG/RRL/]]></description>
