THE RECONSTRUCTION OF DAMAGED SURFACINGS IS OF INCREASING IMPORTANCE.  SUGGESTIONS ARE MADE FOR THE INTRODUCTION OF PLANT FOR THE QUICKER AND MORE ECONOMICAL REPAIR OF ROADS.  IN  ORDER TO AVOID TOO NARROW A SETTING, STANDARD WIDTHS SHOULD BE SPECIFIED  FOR WORKING STRIPS.  A SWISS TECHNIQUE IS BRIEFLY DESCRIBED, WHICH HEATS  THE TOP LAYER OF THE SURFACING BY INFRARED RAYS, RIPS IT OUT, DISTRIBUTES IT AND COMPACTS IT IN CONJUNCTION WITH THINLY BROKEN UP MATERIALS.  IT IS REPORTED THAT THE RECONSTRUCTION WORK CAN ONLY BE CARRIED OUT UNDER CERTAIN LIMITED CIRCUMSTANCES.
