Modal tyre models for road noise improvement

A well-tuned tyre-vehicle vibration interaction supports a pleasant road noise. Continental has developed efficient tools and procedures to achieve that. In the frequency range up to 300Hz, modal tyre models turned out to be very helpful. In this paper the method of simulation and its experimental validation is described. Using application examples, benefits and limits are shown. For the covering abstract see ITRD E127429.
