Thickness Design of Asphalt Pavements in Israel Based on the Generalized Method Application
This investigation concentrates on the generalized method application for predicting the thickness of flexible pavements, taking into consideration the number of wheels. The thickness design equation in the generalized form and a proposed simplification demonstrate identical results and are recommended for practical application. An estimation of the prediction equation parameters for a tridem-axle dual wheel configuration using an extrapolation of actual data shows the efficiency of the equation constructed in practical application. New expressions for the repetition factor associated with an m wheel-axle configuration in the generalized approach are elaborated. The generalized method yields essential efficiency for total and intermediate asphalt thickness estimation, employing corresponding prediction equations. The results of the generalized method application for the thickness design of asphalt pavements show efficiency and sufficient accuracy for estimations presented.
