CLOTHING SYSTEMS WITH WATER-PROOFNESS, BREATHABILITY AND 24 HOUR PROACTIVE CONSPICUITY
There is no doubt that UK Railway Industry employees engaged in Infrastructure Maintenance, rail vehicle operations and related activities are, from a clothing perspective, better protected than they were 20 years ago. Over this period there have been significant advancements in textile technology; waterproof breathable fabric technology and waterproof breathable and ergonomic footwear technology. In essence a "top to toe" high visibility, fully functional and full breathable clothing system has been developed. Advancement has also been made in the laundry industry; so that heavily soiled garments are now able to be returned to the original level of high visibility. The UK Infrastructure industry has adopted these performance solutions not only to comply with Personal Protective Equipment legislation but also because of enhanced safety and employee performance.
