A TWO PHASE EXTENSION OF THE LRW MODEL BASED ON THE BOUNDEDNESS OF TRAFFIC ACCELERATION
The paper's subject is the Lighthill Whithan Richards model (LWR model) which is considered to be the simplest model in the large family of first order macroscopic traffic flow models. The paper presents a model based on two features: solutions of the LWR model with an acceleration less than an upper bound A (the (EQ) phase), and the connection of such LWR solutions by localized solutions of constant acceleration A (the (BA) phase).
