BIOWEAPONRY AND AGROTERRORISM. IN: THE GEOGRAPHICAL DIMENSIONS OF TERRORISM
Direct attacks against human populations represent a source of fear for modern societies, but there are other important targets for biological or chemical attack. Potential terrorist attacks against agricultural and food-related sectors are a major concern to those involved in these activities, to policymakers representing rural regions, and potentially to the nation's food supply. In rural agricultural areas, there is a growing unease regarding the potential for attacks on livestock and crops, and against the transportation of food products. This paper discusses the potential impacts of bioweaponry and agroterrorism on the nation's food supply and its ability to transport food products.
