PUBLIC HEALTH, LAW ENFORCEMENT, AND HAZARDS MANAGEMENT. IN: THE GEOGRAPHICAL DIMENSIONS OF TERRORISM

While hazard management, public health, and law enforcement each have a unique role and mission in society, they become integrally linked when a disaster strikes. Geography functions as the basis for integration among all organizations charged with hazard risk management, particularly with regard to terrorism, especially bioterrorism. For example, geographic approaches in law enforcement, public health, and hazard management are similar even though the focus and terminology differ slightly between disciplines. This paper explores these commonalities and the potential for creating stronger linkages between public health, law enforcement, and hazards management.
