URBAN TRANSPORTATION PLANNING CAN SUCCEED
This article discusses ways in which solutions can be developed to problems of urban growth and traffic congestion, especially in medium-sized cities where large suburban population increases are expected. The focus is on coordinated urban and transportation planning efforts in the city of Houston, Texas. It is shown that the cooperative efforts of local, county, and state governments can help a growing metropolitan area effectively meet its goals in developing a comprehensive program of transportation planning.
