TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER IN TRANSPORT PLANNING: A CHALLENGE AND NECESSITY FOR AFRICAN CITIES
Gaborone is currently experiencing transport-related problems including road congestion, an increasing road accident rate, air pollution, and inadequate public transit. These problems have been greatly exacerbated by Botswana's economic growth, and are increasingly the subject of concern of road transport planning authorities. This paper addresses the importance and methods of technology transfer in transport planning, emphasizing the need for integrated transport and land use policies and strategy implementation through the development plan and control process.
