COMPOSITE STRENGTHENING OF CIVIL STRUCTURES FOR REHABILITATION AND SEISMIC APPLICATIONS
The TYFO S Fibrwrap System concept was conceived in 1988 as an alternate to conventional steel jacket retrofits of reinforced concrete bridge columns. The system has undergone numerous structural tests to validate its use in providing ductility and shear strengthening to various structural elements. Resulting from the extensive testing has been approval of the Fibrwrap System by the City of Los Angeles and the California Department of Transportation for its use in seismic retrofit applications. Since its inception, the Fibrwrap System has been successfully installed on over 3000 columns worldwide, including two structures which performed as designed and withstood the 1994 Northridge Earthquake.
