The inability of transportation systems to provide mobility needed by the users forces the acceptance by the user of alternative sectors of mobility. Recognizing that transportation systems have difficulties in responding to society's needs for mobility in traditional means, the paper examines the possibilities for substituting physicaL mobility using various forms of electronic mobility. Some of the forms of virtual mobility reviewed include: conversations by telephone; fax; Internet; home shopping, and telecommute, etc.
