IMPROVING THE ENERGY EFFICIENCY OF FREIGHT IN THE UNITED STATES THROUGH COMMODITY-BASED ANALYSIS: JUSTIFICATION AND IMPLEMENTATION. IN: TRANSPORT LOGISTICS
The paper first recognizes the rapid growth of energy use in US freight transportation, and considers how current model based techniques may be able to slow but not reverse the trend. The paper then presents a commodity based approach which is centered around the movement of commodities in a production and distribution context, within which vehicle movements occur, rather than on the movement of vehicle alone.
