PAVING MACHINE IMPROVEMENTS
One of the biggest problems in creating durable asphalt pavement is size segregation of aggregate-asphalt mixes. Segregated material, which is incorporated into a roadway, results in coarse uneven surfaces with air voids unfilled by asphalt binder. This paper describes a way to deal with the segregation problem and improve asphalt pavement durability by making specific changes to asphalt paving machines.
