MODELING TIME-TO-CORROSION CRACKING IN CHLORIDE CONTAMINATED REINFORCED CONCRETE STRUCTURES. DISCUSSIONS AND CLOSURE
Two discussions of a paper with the aforementioned title by Y. Liu and R.E. Weyers, published in this journal (Volume 95, Number 6, November-December 1998), are presented. In the first discussion, Hime and Backus maintain that the authors improperly assume that the corrosion product of steel is crystalline. Discusser Li raises points concerning the deterioration model, corrosion process, corrosion initiation, uniform corrosion, and growth of rust products. The first discussion is followed by closure from the authors.
