LOAD RESPONSE INSTRUMENTATION INSTALLATION AND TESTING PROCEDURES. MINNESOTA ROAD RESEARCH PROJECT.
This paper highlights the more important issues experienced from the installation and testing of load response instrumentation at the Minnesota Road Research Project (Mn/ROAD). Load response instrumentation measures such parameters as strain, deflection, and pressure in the pavement layers from dynamic axle loadings. Included are step by step installation and testing procedures for selected instruments. Initial survivability of the sensors is discussed as are probable causes for failures. Recommendations are made on how to improve the survival rate during paving.
