"PILOT" - IMPLEMENTATION AND EVALUATION OF FURTHER EDUCATION OF YOUNG DRIVERS
The target group in this study is young drivers aged 18 to 24, who are policyholders in Skandia, a Swedish insurance company. The aim is to obtain a total of 3,000 participants in the project, with 2,000 in a test group and 1,000 in a control group. The further education is a one-day course where the content is focuses on risk awareness and defensive driving. The aim is to influence participants' motivation to use large safety margins when driving. A total of 137 one-day courses were carried out in a total of ten places in Sweden between October/November 1993 and December 1994. To evaluate the education, data were obtained on accidents, driving habits and attitudes for 1995 and 1996.
