CHOOSING A SYSTEM TO CONTROL LEVEL CROSSING SIGNALING DEVICES
This report deals with the problems of choosing adequate conditions under which to use the constant warning time systems. It is known that under certain train movement characteristics the application of the CWT-systems does not give a considerable effect in reducing the real warning time. A technique is suggested that helps to estimate the advantages of using a CWT-system as compared to the conventional system taking the train movement characteristics into account. Recommendations are given concerning conditions under which it is worthwhile to use the traditional train warning devices, or automatic warning devices.
