DICARE--THE DIESEL EXPERT

The operation of Dicare, an expert diagnostic system for 4-stroke diesel engines, in-line and in vee form with up to 16 cylinders, is described. The system, which was developed by MaK, bases its diagnostics upon comparisons with the characteristics of the engine when new and functioning fault-free during final testbed trials or during a shipyard test run.
