THE SUPER-RATIONALISED BRIDGE
Japan Radio Company's SNA-90/91 Total Navigator III system is described. It is a third generation navigation system that integrates many different position sensors (including GPS and radar), engine room sensors, hull sensors, weather sensors and water depth sensors. The results are centrally displayed on a 20-inch color monitor. The system is capable of automatic navigation even through narrow channels, with route planning prepared from the ARPA radar display. Electronic charts are part of the navigational displays.
