FREE ENTERPRISE ON THE HIGH SEAS
A maritime enterprise scheme is proposed as a way of countering the decline of British shipping and that of a number of other developed countries. It would entail the creation of companies that would have no corporate taxes levied upon them and whose seafaring employees would be free of income tax and social security and pension contributions. The author explains why he believes that such companies would be in a position to compete effectively with flag- of-convenience ship operators.
