HUMAN FACTORS CONSIDERATIONS FOR VOICE ROUTE GUIDANCE
A vehicle navigation system with route guidance enhanced by voice messages was developed. This paper describes the human factors engineering study carried out to develop the software specifications for the voice route guidance. Results of experiments for verification of the effectiveness of the system, including objective measurements of drivers' glance behavior and mental workload, are also reported.
