YIELD LINE ANALYSIS OF CROPPED-WEB WARREN TRUSS JOINTS
Yield line analysis of the chord face, augmented to account for shear yield in the truss webs, has been used to derive an expression for predicting yield loads for cropped-web HSS Warren truss joints with zero overlap of the webs. Yield loads predicted by the expression are compared with corresponding values measured in an experimental investigation of isolated truss joint specimens. For the 39 joints considered, the mean ratio of measured to predicted yield load was 1.04, with a coefficient of variation of 15.1%. The yield load prediction expression has been modified to provide an expression for predicting ultimate joint loads. Ultimate loads computed using the latter expresion have been compared with those measured experimentaly for the 39 joint specimens.
