LIGHTWEIGHT ELECTRIC HARNESS
A description is given of the salplex multiplex data handling system for vehicle application. The system comprises a number of independent transmitter-receiver units connected to a single coaxial cable which contains the signal bus and power bus. Signals are sent along the data buses from small processing units sited on a vehicle dashboard. Diagnostic information relating to the loads and the system itself is available on the data buses and can be displayed as required. Weight saving in a multiplexing system comes from a single common power cable, elimination of relays and the use of lightweight switches and instrumentation. (TRRL)
