This paper briefly analyses the following papers: procedures for forecasting vehicle miles of travel in national road planning (burke=rh; atkins=as and coote=gm), forward planning of municipal asset development (cottman=nh); a method of predicting future population and motor vehicle numbers in local authority areas and regions for economic evaluation of road projects (vance=jh and platel=pm).
