TRAFFIC CONTROL MECHANISMS

A GENERAL STATEMENT OF PRESENT STATUS AND RESEARCH PROCEDURE SUGGESTIONS ARE MADE ON THE FOLLOWING PROBLEMS: (1) MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS TO ASSURE ADEQUATE UNIFORMITY; (2) WHAT CONDITIONS WARRANT TRAFFIC CONTROL SIGNALS; (3) RELATIVE EFFICIENCY OF NON-MECHANICAL AND MECHANICAL CONTROL; (4) FORMULA FOR CYCLE AND INTERNAL LENGTHS; (5) RELATIVE EFFICIENCY OF VARIOUS TYPES OF COORDINATION; (6) ECONOMIC COST OF TRAFFIC DELAY; (7) UNIFORM COST ACCOUNTING METHOD FOR TRAFFIC CONTROL SIGNAL INSTALLATION; (8) ADMINISTRATIVE CONTROL OF TRAFFIC CONTROL SIGNALS.
