A STATIC SCALE-MODEL SIMULATOR FOR THE STUDY OF VISIBILITY AND HIGHWAY LIGHTING

THE DESIGN FEATURES OF THE SCALE MODEL SIMULATOR ARE DESCRIBED IN DETAIL. VISIBILITY MEASUREMENTS WILL BE CARRIED OUT FOR MANNEQUINS, VEHICLES AND ROADWAY MARKINGS UNDER DIFFERENT LAYOUTS OF THE FOUR LUMINAIRE TYPES. THESE WERE DEVELOPED THROUGH TRAIL AND ERROR TO FAITHFULLY MODEL LUMINAIRES IN GENERAL USE. THE SIMULATOR WILL EVENTUALLY BE COMPARED WITH SPOT CHECKS IN THE FIELD.
