Emerging ITS Technologies--Infrastructure
The Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) industry has seen substantial growth within the past few years. ITS technologies are expanding far beyond the basic dynamic message sign (DMS) sign and traffic signal system to include technologies that, when integrated into a conventional ITS system, make the ITS system much more effective in reducing travel time, improving safety, and reducing cost. These technologies include new advanced parking guidance and information systems, winter road management systems, structural health monitoring systems, and street lighting systems. Each one of these technologies pushes the ITS industry to a new level of effectiveness.
