Long-term aggregates supply: part 1
In this first instalment of a two-part article looking at the role aggregates play in the economy, how aggregates are treated politically and the outlook for demand and supply, this article puts past, present and future needs for aggregates into perspective. With a focus on long-term aggregate supply in England, it considers resource availability, accessibility, demand-forecasting, landbanks, replenishment rates and 'capacity to supply', and identifies the potential scale of the task that lies ahead.
