A Climate/Environmental/Health Impact Assessment IT-Tool for Freight Transportation
This paper presents a novel web-service tool, which offers different levels of calculating the climate, environmental and health impacts of freight transports, that are presently being developed within the framework of NTM - The Network for Transport and Environment. The primary components of the tool include 1) consistent, transparent and internationally recognized methodologies to calculate emissions of greenhouse gases and air pollutants and fuel/energy use associated with freight transports, 2) a common database containing the data needed to perform these calculations, linking to 3) a web-service carrying out the calculations, either via a web user interface or via a client-server solution.
