Recycling of Fire Extinguisher Agents into HMAs: Experiments and Perspectives
This paper describes how fire extinguishers must be maintained at regular intervals and many problems arise when such dry powers finish their usual life cycle. In the light of the above facts, following process analysis and optimization and mix design, volumetrics, mechanical-chemical performance and environmental compatibility of bituminous mixes containing such powders have been tested. Bituminous mixes obtained with different extinguisher powder contents have been considered. The effect of the content of extinguisher powder has been analyzed in terms of mechanical and environmental performance, and in terms of fuel resistance. Based upon the obtained results, mechanical performance resulted sufficient and environmental compatibility satisfied. Practical applications and perspectives in rehabilitation and maintenance and research needs have been outlined.
