Land Value Impacts of Bus Rapid Transit: The Case of Bogota’s TransMilenio
TransMilenio is a bus rapid transit (BRT) system in Bogota, Colombia. A number of studies have examined the impacts of TransMilenio on the property values of residences and commercial establishments with access to the BRT system. The findings of these studies vary with distance to BRT stops and whether the access is to a feeder line or trunk line. This current study utilized before and after data to investigate whether property values changed as the TransMilenio BRT expanded. Again, findings are mixed. Though property values increased in those areas that were already served by Transmilenio, prices did not increase in those areas that originally did not have a BRT station, but are now served by the BRT expansion.
