Bilevel Optimisation of Prices in Network Equilibrium Models
In this paper we consider a basic fixed or rigid demand model in the same form. These are: (1) a variable demand with Wardopian route-choice (using deterministic costs), (ii) a variable demand model with stochastic (logit) route-choice, and (iii) another variable demand model with stochastic (logit) route-choice. This paper will show that a “simultaneous descent” method for approximately solving a bi-level optimization problem within a specific rigid demand equilibrium model also applies, under reasonable conditions, within three other models; including a variable demand model with logit route choice.
