From the condition indicator to asset management

In the UK, as in many other countries, Asset Management is recognised as fundamental for delivering the required service levels for highway infrastructure in the most cost effective manner. Transport for London (TfL), jointly with the London Technical Advisors Group (LoTAG) and the London Bridges Engineering Group (LoBEG), are developing a strategy for asset management across the Transport for London Road Network (TLRN) and the Borough Principal Road Network (BPRN). This paper describes the programme of work undertaken, from April 2003 to March 2005, to implement and develop Asset Management practices that support the development of robust and justifiable Asset Management Plans (AMP) for the BPRN structures.
