Integrated Land Use/Transport Model Requirements
This chapter discussed the general design requirements for the development of operational, policy-sensitive integrated land use/transport models. It has also presented a set of criteria that may be used in order to assess such models for possible use in an operational setting. Specific integrated models will deal with these design requirements in a variety of ways, ranging from ignoring one or more of the requirements altogether through to a fairly detailed treatment of most or all of the issues discussed in the chapter. It is fair to say that no currently operational model fully incorporated all aspects of what one might expect in an “ideal” model. It is also the case, however, that integrated models have been evolving rapidly in recent years toward this ultimate goal.
