ITS UPDATE IN BRISBANE CITY COUNCIL - TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THE NETWORKING REVOLUTION
With the new communications demands of bus tracking, and more recently electronic parking signs, incident management signs and web cameras, more and more demand was being placed on the network which was originally in place to manage traffic signals only. To simplify these demands, the network has been totally converted from an array of proprietary dedicated serial connections for traffic control, to a full TCP/IP network which allows any number of usage overlays without having to create another network infrastructure. Bandwidth management of each link is still essential to ensure all uses are adequately supported.
