The paper evaluates air quality in Ahwaz, Iran, one of the largest cities in the country. According to previous environmental studies, the climate is very polluted, so much so that Ahwaz is among the high risk cities. The paper makes an attempt to, not only identify the major factors affecting the pollution, but also determine the range of these factors, and seek some practical and scientific solutions for reducing the pollution. Some of the factors identified include: unusual development and growth of the city, heavy industrial growth, oil exploration, heavy traffic.
