Effective security requires setting forth the desired goal, examining the risks associated with the desired applications, and assessing the cost effectiveness of available tools and procedures to manage the risks. This paper highlights the many aspects of security and provides concrete examples from the literature of common security breaches, security problems, and security solutions that are relevant to vehicle information systems.
