HYDRODYNAMICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF ROTATABLE THRUSTERS

This report presents results from tests made with 360 degrees rotable thrusters for positioning of ships and other floating objects. The tests were carried out both in the towing tank and in the cavitation tunnel. The hydrodynamical characteristics of the thrusters (propeller thrust and torque, longitudinal and transverse force and steering moment) at different angles of attack are presented. Cavitation characteristics such as K sub T, K sub Q and N sub O and cavitation sketches are presented.
