ENGINEERING PROPERTIES OF SOILS AND ROCKS - 4TH EDITION

This book provides a working knowledge of the engineering properties and behaviour of the different soil and rock types. Extensive data are provided on individual soil and rock types, including their composition, texture, degree of weathering, and the presence of fissures or discontinuities. It also considers the description and classification of soils and rocks. The fourth edition has been extensively revised and enlarged, with four new chapters on: silt, loess and brickearth; igneous and metamorphic rock; arenaceous and argillaceous rocks; and carbonate and evaporitic rocks. The chapters on rock types consider their durability as well as their geomechanical properties and behaviour. Rock properties in terms of construction materials are outlined and methods of dealing with problem soils and groundwater are discussed.
