DISTINCT: DEVELOPING A BUSINESS CASE FOR A CITIZEN CARD AND PROVIDING ACCESS FOR ALL
This paper describes the wide and varied activities of the DISTINCT project, which is migrating transport-based cards (developed in EU projects, such as ADEPT II, QUARTETPLUS and GRASP) to other sectors of use in a number of cities or regions of Europe, and making real integration of cross-sector services. The key to this has been the innovation of the smartcard-held DISTINCT ID and development of the business cases for the cities or regions necessary to take such an undertaking forward. An overview of applications and the business case which has been developed by the consortium is provided. The potential (and actual) adoption of DISTINCT by other cities and regions is also reported.
