THE INTEGRATION OF MAYDAY SYSTEMS WITHIN EXISTING PSAP INFRASTRUCTURES: LESSONS LEARNED FROM THE ACN AND MAYDAY PLUS OPERATIONAL TESTS
This paper presents results from two field operational tests that are testing the application of automated collision notification and Mayday messaging systems for delivering emergency messages to Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs). The tests are the Automated Collision Notification (ACN) Field Operational Test underway in western New York, and the Mayday Plus Operational Test underway in Minnesota. This paper discusses lessons learned and issues identified during these tests and defines next steps for delivering Mayday information to PSAPs in an operational environment.
