GREATER SAPPORO WHITE-NET EXPERIMENTAL PROJECT
The Road Information Sharing Experiment and the Car Commuter Monitoring Experiment were carried out under the Greater Sapporo WHITE-NET Experimental Project in the winter of 1998/99. The former experiment has two parts: the Experiment for Daily Work, in which information is shared on the schedule of driving restrictions related to construction or snow disposal; and the Experiment for Heavy Snow, in which information is shared on the present condition and schedule of driving restrictions and snow removal during heavy snow. The Car Commuter Monitoring Experiment seeks to understand how car commuters change their commuting method according to information on roads and weather. This paper reports on these experiments, which utilize Internet technology. (A*) For the covering abstract see ITRD E110327.
