THIN SURFACING PERFORMANCE
This article investigates the difference in performance of thin surfacing materials between urban and rural roads. Fourteen sites were chosen and surveyed on a visual basis. Nine sites had significant faults. Age seemed to have little effect on the degree of failure. Basic causes of failure were found to be poor work procedures and poor specification of materials as to suitability to their location. For the covering abstract see ITRD E118359.
