THE ASSIGNMENT TO FREQUENCY OF DETERMINISTIC EQUILIBRIUM FOR COLLECTIVE TRANSPORT NETWORKS

A NUMBER OF TRAFFIC ASSIGNMENT PROCEDURES FOR SIMULATING FLOWS OVER URBAN TRANSIT NETWORKS HAVE BEEN PROPOSED IN THE PAST: SOME OF THEM ARE DIRECTLY FORMULATED TO REFLECT THE CHARACTERISTICS OF URBAN BUS NETWORKS AND THE PASSENGER BEHAVIOUR, SOME ARE DERIVED FROM EXISTING ASSIGNMENT PROCEDURES USED FOR PRIVATE CAR TRAFFIC ON ROAD NETWORKS (SUCH AS A.N. OR S.N.L. LOGIT AND PROBIT). IN THIS WIDE CONTEXT, THE FIRST PART OF THIS PAPER ADDRESSES THE THEORETICAL FEATURES ASSOCIATED WITH A METHODOLOGY OF DETERMINISTIC USER EQUILIBRIUM ASSIGNMENT, BASED ON THE CONCEPT OF HYPERPATH. THE SECOND PART PRESENTS SOME RESULTS OF AN EMPIRICAL RESEARCH PERFORMED BOTH FOR COMPARING WITH EACH OTHER D.U.E. AND A.N. ASSIGNMENT OUTCOMES, AND INVESTIGATING D.U.E. SENSITIVITY UNDER CHANGED APPLICATION CONDITIONS.
