SHIPYARD SCHEDULING SYSTEM

A computer aided ship scheduling system has been developed at the IHI Kure Shipyard. The system is intended to make the shipyard more flexible and competitive, by means of accurate systematic planning and rapid visualized management using a personal computer LAN system. The system was developed in 1992 to rationalize handwritten schedules at each shop. There had been various individual scheduling tools at different management levels, however the LAN made it possible to connect these individual tools, and finally an integrated scheduling system was established. The system can be used to simulate a cost-minimum shipyard schedule and to support improvement of productivity.
