EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON HYDRODYNAMIC PROPERTIES OF A NEW MOORING SYSTEM

A new mooring system if proposed in this paper. The system consists of sliding double piles and a floating body. The floating body can follow a large tide irrespective of waves. A series of forced oscillation tests were carried out to clarify the relationship between the hydrodynamic properties and the dimensions and shape of the sliding double-piles. Practical formulas are proposed according to the experimental results. It was confirmed from the comparative studies with the experimental results that these formulas are useful for estimating hydrodynamic forces in various conditions of double- piles. Finally the hydrodynamic properties of double piles are discussed.
