CONSTRAINED SMOOTHING B-SPLINE CURVE FITTING FOR SHIP HULL GENERATION AND FAIRING
This paper presents a method of generating B-spline surfaces from control mesh curves and a technique called constrained smoothing B-spline curve fitting for fairing those mesh curves. The control mesh curves are those curves when parameter u or w get their knot values respectively. In the fairing technique, the knot points of B-spline curves are constrained to a group of straight lines or fixed to some special positions, and taking into account both the position and the curvature factors, smoothed B-spline curves can be produced. Using these methods the B-spline surface generation and fairing can be relatively simple and intuitive.
