A STUDY OF MOTION OF SHIPS WITH SEMI-SUBMERGED-BOW IN WAVES
A semi-submerged-bow (SSB) is an effective appendage developed recently to reduce the pitching motion of ships, especially small fast displacement vessels in waves. This paper deals with the principle and computation of the motions of a hull form with SSB in longitudinal waves. Improvements in hydrodynamic calculations are suggested. The numerical results and experimental data confirmed the advantages of SSB in improving the motion performance of small fast vessels in waves.
